I was disappointed. It’s not a bad car, but the automatic transmission ruins it. With a manual and magnetic shocks it would be fantastic, but if equipped as the one I drove, meh. Give me a corvette

The 6l80 in these things is just too damned slow to shift especially with the stock settings. It is however the best choice if you’re gonna drag the thing.

Now if they put the 8l90 in there, it’d be a lot better off. No dual clutch, but then again, no GM vehicle has one.

I have a G8 GT which is ultimately the same car. I think it’s a spectacular car, but I only paid 20k 5 years ago. No way I would spend the 45 they ask for now.

I mean at the $36k that they were asking I’d take it over any other sedan on the market, but I wanted it to be more fun.

When I drive a Corvette, even with an auto, I’m grinning ear to ear. In the SS I smiled, but most of the time I had a sense of ‘is this it?'. The transmission is mostly to blame. Unless I floored it the thing shifted so early that it felt almost slow.

The motor is great! The car certainly isn’t bad, but I expected it to be fun. It wan’t as fun as I wanted it to be

How has your experience been with that overall (maintenance, reliability, driveability, etc.)? Though a dark horse, I have thoughts about looking at some GTOs for my next car...

Yeah its pretty docile, unless I put it in sport shift are floor it.

As far as maintenance it’s been fairly simple and cheap. Blasphemy, I know but I’ve done dealer oil changes. Reliability, it’s never stranded me however I’ve had two repairs. Fuel pump and an oil pan gasket. Probably about a grand out on that, however I didn’t do the repair myself and I’m in the desert so pumps take a beating or so I hear. Also I will say that body panels are scarce, someone backed into me and finding a front fascia was hard. The car is an absolute top notch cruiser and road tripper. It’s also super roomy and comfortable. Plenty of torque when you drop the hammer.

My mate has a wagon one over here in auto because of his wife, so he takes every chance he gets to drive my manual.
